A rather large crowd had gathered last week to see the opening of the 57th Venice Art Biennale – gallerists, art collectors, artists, and the regular coterie of creative types. Throughout the Venetian gardens, the Arsenale and other venues of the Biennale, one could see people dressed in the de rigueur uniform of the art opening – all black, as well as folks more prone to brandishing extravagance and bright colors in their clothing choices. Everyone, however, was united in one aspect – comfortable (and preferably, colorful) athletic shoes. The following is a look at the fashions and styles worn by this year’s visitors to the Biennale.
