During the past weekend art festival “Cēsis 2013” (Latvia) celebrated its seventh season with the openings of Karlīna Vītoliņa’s solo exhibition “Portraits” at the former Cēsis Printing House, drawing exhibition “Abyss. Visvaldis Ziediņš” at the Cēsis Exhibition Hall and the international exhibition of contemporary art “Summertime Readings” at the Cēsis Brewery and various urban venues. For the first time the group exhibition was in the hands of a guest curator, the director of Contemporary Art Centre (CAC), Vilnius, Kęstutis Kuizinas. In his opening speech Kuizinas announced that in autumn CAC will hold an exhibition devoted to the art festival “Cēsis 2013”. The opening of the festival was highlighted by the “foggy” performance of Lithuanian artist Dainius Liškevičius, but the night ended with the multimedia concert performance “Latvian Radio Choir, Cage and Time”.
