Exhibition Noughts and Crosse by Ivan Lounguine at the Maxim Boxer gallery in Riga (Lāčplēša street 48) will be on view from May 25 till July 20, 2023. Curator of the exhibition is Maxim Boxer.
“This is the first exhibition in my new gallery in Riga, which I am opening after more than a year of inactivity. I am opening it for my artist friends scattered around the world, for local artists, for those I have not yet had the chance to met, for the people of Riga, for those who have recently moved to Riga, and finally, for myself, because I can and should do what I love and know. I sincerely hope that I can show you something new and relevant that resonates with our shared mood and reflections. I eagerly anticipate the gallery becoming a place of meetings and conversations. It will carry on the legacy of my Chestertonian “Flying Inn,” where, as you may recall, “where a sign appears, there life and love are reborn”,” says Maxim Boxer.
The Noughts and Crosses exhibition is the result of Ivan’s experiences and reflections, introspection related to recent events. It will feature several series: photographs, objects, sculptures, and paintings, all emotionally united, repeating like a sequence one intense motif. The multifaceted works, as if deconstructed and shattered into hundreds of fragments, at the same time act in unison, touching us to the core.
