Galerija VARTAi and Luc Tuymans support initiative «Warm Up Ukraine»
The auction will run January 20-24
Galerija VARTAI will announce an auction with one of the most famous artists in the world, Luc Tuymans, on January 20. The auctioned artwork is “Presence” by Luc Tuymans, signed by the artist. Starting bid: 3,500 EUR.
The goal is to donate the entire amount of the legendary artist’s work to the Stiprūs Kartu and the Lithuanian National Museum of Art’s initiative Warm Up Ukraine.
“The war is not far away, at the very heart of Europe, just as it was during the Second World War. It is the biggest conflict we are experiencing on our territory, our land. How can I ignore it?” - says Luc Tuymans. In his opinion, it is worth donating with all possible means to Ukraine; because there will never be too much money to achieve victory. The artist is well-versed in history - and his work is constantly in tune with the world’s most pressing issues.

The auction will be announced on Facebook profile of the Galerija VARTAI and will run until January 24 at 7 pm. Anyone can bid in the comments, by private message or by mailing to rutkute@galerijavartai.lt. We will hand the artwork to the highest bidder and ask that the entire amount to be transferred directly to the Stiprūs Kartu account.
Galerija VARTAI invites everyone to see the work at the gallery during the opening hours. It should be reminded that the exhibition Mercy (curated by Ory Dessau), a joint exhibition by Zlatko Kopljar and Luc Tuymans is on view in the gallery until January 27.
